The „Wuppertaler Prozess“

The Stegreif project familiarized us the „Wuppertaler Prozess“. Starting with a comprehensive research and analasys of the current market situation, existing products and technology, point of sale and presentation in stores, as well as usage and context analasys.

After having gathered such data and information, we could now go on to ideate possible solutions for the problems found as well as additional features and technologies to further improve the user experience and quality of the product. These so called „Global Concepts“ are not part of the design phase and focused on gathering ideas and solutions to choose from.

Following an abundant amount of global concepts, the goals for the end product had to be decided upon. As this was not a cooperational project, we had not client and could decide on the targets ourselves. Accessing the information gathered in the first step each one of us decided on several design goals the final design should meet.

Having set the design goals and plenty of solutions to choose from, we set out to experiment with the visual language, shapes and details to combine them later on with the global concepts to meet the design goals set.

The last step before deciding on a final design was to create three different versions to choose one from. These Fleshed out concepts combined diverse technology and form concepts and were destinguishable different from each other.

After having chosen a final design it was revised once more upon which a CAD model was created, rendered and used to create a 1:1 sized model in the workshop by hand and tool assistance.

„Chroaudio“ Headphones

The Chraudio Speakers are tailored to the needs and wishes of a broad audience to make high comfort, quality and sound fidelity available for all.

The over ear cups are covered in soft leather which provides best wearing comfort, even after hours of wear. Additionally the leather is easy and fast to clean compared to alternatives using cloth or microfibers which are near impossibly to clean properly. The left ear cup features a infinitely variable, chromed rotary knob for smooth adjustment of the volume. The center of the cup hosts an intuitive touch interface to pause, stop, start, skip and shuffle your music or other media played on the headphones. The headband can be adjusted steplessly to fit almost any head size. The ends of the headband feature clear left and right identification to help orienting the headphones properly.

Most headphones have a permanently attached input cable, which presents the most likely point of failure due to wear and tear of the delicate wires inside. The Chraudio headphones feature a standard aux port which allows the user to simply swap out the cable should it ever break.
